 4NCL  06/07 - Division 3

 

 

 May 07 - Rounds 9, 10 & 11

There was something of a deja vu feeling to our final round 4NCL

fixture against Mind Sports. Three years ago in Division 4, also

against a Mind Sports team, also in the last match of that season,

we needed to win to gain promotion. This season we again needed

to win, but this time to avoid relegation. Unfortunately for us history

repeated itself and we were once more unable to achieve the win

that would have made such a big difference right at the end of the

season.

In spite of the disappointment, we very much enjoyed our chess in

Division 3, and look forward to trying to bounce straight back up

from Division 4 next season.

The final weekend will be a nail-biter for us. Now, just one point

above the relegation zone, we seem to be a team which refuses to

accept mid-table mediocrity going into the last weekend of a 4NCL

season!

 Jan 07 - Rounds 5 & 6

We finished on the wrong end of two closely fought matches, and

were disappointed not to take any points from the weekend. We

expected to find it tough against Cheddleton-Pointon, but were

hopeful of winning against Pride and Prejudice.

Peter Richmond played well and won both of his games, but

generally we under-performed. We will need to improve our results

in March if we are to avoid being
