Wiltshire v Surrey - May 04

Wiltshire beat Surrey on May 16th in the quarter-final of the

National Minor County Championship, and will now meet

Norfolk on June 13th in the semi-final. Wiltshire looked

comfortable for most of the match, but eventually were

relieved to scrape through on board count.  Mark Jones'

loss was negated by Nick Wingfield's win leaving us ahead

by Tim Headlong's win by default. Andrew Bosworth's game

looked comfortably won, but he blundered and lost the game

to leave the match tight. Sven had all sorts of fun around

the opposing king in the middle game and missed at least

one win. He arrived in a rook ending which rapidly

deteriorated from better to equal to lost. Peter somehow

managed to salvage a draw with knight and 3 pawns

against rook and 3 pawns to enable David to grind out the

win which put us through on board count.
